What We Teach at Satori

Hapkido

Hapkido is a versatile Korean martial art that combines powerful strikes and kicks with sophisticated joint locks and throws to neutralize the attack. By emphasizing circular motion and fluidity rather than brute force, Hapkido provides students of all sizes with a highly effective system for practical self-defense and internal balance.

Sundays 3:15-5pm

Kali/Escrima

Kali and Escrima are dynamic, weapon-based martial arts from the Philippines that focus on using sticks, blades, and everyday objects to develop lightning-fast coordination and practical self-defense skills. Designed to be intuitive and highly adaptable, these arts allow beginners to start with rhythmic patterns that quickly translate into effective, real-world movement and confidence.

Sundays 1-3pm

Jeet Kune Do / Jun Fan Gung Fu

Jeet Kune Do and Jun Fan Gung Fu represent the evolution of Bruce Lee’s personal martial arts journey, focusing on the core philosophy of being "like water"—fluid, adaptable, and direct. In this practice, you move beyond the rigid patterns of traditional styles to embrace a system that prioritizes speed, and efficiency to stop an attack before it even lands. By training in these methods, you develop a highly personalized approach to combat that uses whatever is useful and discards what is not, building a foundation of elite and explosive movement.

Wednesdays 6-7pm

Jun Fan JKD Grappling

Jun Fan JKD Grappling integrates the foundational wrestling and submission techniques developed and refined by Larry Hartsell, (one of Bruce Lee's direct students) emphasizing the transition from striking to close-quarters combat. Unlike styles that focus solely on groundwork, this class teaches you how to effectively bridge the gap, utilizing takedowns, joint locks, "trapping to grappling", and close-quarter combative sequences to maintain control in a fight. By training in this method, you will develop a functional awareness of leverage and body mechanics, and learn to neutralize threats on the ground while staying true to the JKD core principles of efficiency and directness.

Wednesdays 7-8pm

Alternative Dance

Challenge your body while freeing your movement. This class goes beyond traditional choreography, focusing instead on building functional strength and deep flexibility. Join us to build a powerful, lean physique while discovering your own natural rhythm.
